Liang Ly Helps United States to Secure A $549.5M Settlement in False Claims Act Case Relating to Evaded Customs Duties

Liang Ly LLP celebrates the historic $549 million False Claims Act settlement announced by the United States.  The settlement comes after the criminal convictions of defendants and a $1.83 billion restitution award in the largest customs fraud case in our nation’s history.

For Liang Ly LLP’s client, Eric Shen, this settlement marks the end of a ten-year odyssey, which included civil and criminal cases around the world, spanning from the United Kingdom, Singapore, Taiwan, California, and Texas.  Throughout this journey, Mr. Shen was instrumental in helping the United States build its case, testifying at the criminal proceeding at great risk to his life, filing a whistleblower action, and becoming an integral part of the government’s effort in securing the criminal convictions, the restitution award, and the recovery of funds back to the United States.

Jason L. Liang and John K. Ly from Liang Ly LLP represented Mr. Shen in this matter.
